Abstract

Indonesia has various local wisdoms that can be used as a basis for character and moral education for students. One of the most famous local wisdoms is that of the Mapalus culture in the province of North Sulawesi, Indonesia. The purpose of this study is to explain the moral value of Mapalus culture and provide an interpretation of the implications of Mapalus culture for the digital character education of children. The method used in this research is a qualitative method with a hermeneutic approach. The hermeneutic approach is one of the qualitative research methods that understand and interpret the meaning in a work and writing so that it can be properly understood. The results show that the values of Mapalus culture have a positive impact on digital character education. The moral values of Mapalus culture that can be used for digital character education of children are cooperation, mutual respect, unity, family problem solving, responsibility, integrity and living in harmony. These moral values are very important and relevant for students when using digital media equipped with various platforms. Mapalus culture provides inspiration and guidance on how to use technological media properly, wisely, and responsibly.
